ingredients for the perfect bath: sprinkled rose petals, hand picked lavender buds, unicorn utopia salt bath scrub, mystic mermaid bath bomb, and a good brand raspberry soap bar
i have more than enough sensitives and allergies that almost everything makes my skin react. between rejecting simple ingredients to having reactions to more food allergies than can be counted. i have found that all natural, mild vegan based products have been the answer to many trial and error struggles.
i sprinkled the bath with fresh rose petals and lavender buds saturated in essential oils. rose petals symbolize balance and are used in baths not only for their aesthetically pleasing look but to relax the body and promote glowing skin. rose petals are also enriched with natural oils an sugars that lock moisture into dry irritated skin.
lavender buds originated in the mediterranean region and are best known for their beautiful lilac color and natural sweet aroma. but over the years lavender has been found to be infused with healthy and healing properties. it is used as an anti inflammatory for skin and treating high levels of stress, anxiety, depression and insomnia.
throughout the stress of college applications, people coming and going, constant changes, overwhelming responsibilities that have been faced this fall and early winter i’ve made it a personal goal to focus on trying to spread self love to not only myself but everyone close to me. it is hard to focus on this at such a time when you feel you are half in high school and half in the adult world. but next year many of us will be sitting in a college dorm room having to share our space and privacy with new people all around us. as exciting as that is i quickly realized how important it is to cherish my own home and the self care moments i get, for they soon will be hard to find. “treating yourself” may sound like a unknown subject to many of us as we run to school, clubs, meetings, work, internships and barely be able to make it to our showers and beds at a reasonable hour. but being able to learn to treat yourself will benefit you more than you know. maybe you choose to stay in that one saturday night to get a full twelve hours of sleep and paint your nails with your mom and miss out on that fun girls night with all of your friends. you may see the snapchats and social media posts and think twice about staying in, but you will wake up the next morning and be truly thankful for treating yourself the night before. most people don’t purposely choose to miss out on the fun but when they go to lay down or take care of themselves they feel they do not have enough time to do so. even now you might be reading this post but be in the middle of online shopping, texting or attempting to do homework. always working on the next thing, always racing to get it all done, you might even be glancing at the time at the top of your phone and realize you don’t even have enough time to read this post because of that paper thats due tomorrow. but taking that extra second to slow down and treat yourself in any type of way will be forever beneficial in almost every aspect of your life. cheers to treating ourselves and resting our minds. sleep tight my friends.
