>>> gen z is one of the most powerful generation in my opinion. we have ideas and a way of life that is truly something to be excited for. I am blessed to be in the generation I am in. we will make change, social media and technology has allowed us to connect with other people our age and make connections we never could 20 years ago. we are the hope this country needs.
but
one thing about gen z that scares and frustrates me is the lack reality and lack of romance. our parent's generation have love stories. they have stories of meeting at school, at a concert, in a coffee shop, or when they went out dancing. whereas my generation is still stuck on one night stands, snapchats and stalking each other on instagram. social media has allowed us to be lazy. it is so easy to send a snapchat or a text, but what happened to showing up at each other's doors?
on the contrary, I think I would be so caught of guard if someone were to show up at my door. we are so used to the way we communicate and "love" that someone acting traditional might even come across creepy or too much... it's a battle our generation has put on themselves. almost every girl I know would love a romantic act, but in reality we are so accustomed to our ways that it might be a stranger event then expected.
another struggle is the fact that a lot of times boys will get shamed for being very loyal or showing too much respect for women. obviously being in college I am in the age group of immaturity and irresponsibility and the concept of true love seems too mature. but it is hard to believe that romance is the same as it once was. society norms, social media and sterotypes have gotten in the way of romantic gestures and love itself. <<<
I love this commentary - great insight - now solutions needed
