Why I love it and the magical humans behind FP Charleston :)
Working at Free People in Charleston, SC has been an absolute dream come true. I have always admired and collected the brand but since I started working there in April 2022 I have expanded my love for the company. It's like working in a bohemian paradise, surrounded by beautiful clothes, amazing people, and the most wonderful bosses you could ever ask for - Maggie. Maggie is like the fairy godmother of the store - she always has a smile on her face and a positive attitude that's contagious. She's so supportive, kind, and always willing to lend a helping hand. She has mentored me throughout my work experience, resume building and encouraged me to grow with the company. She worked at home office for many years and has brought her knowledge and love for the brand back where she started in Charleston! I feel so lucky to have her as my boss.
But it's not just Maggie who makes Free People such an amazing place to work - it's also my assistant manager, Alex, and our creative and artistic visual manager, Presley. Alex is like the glue that holds everything together. She's so organized and efficient, and she's always making sure that everything is running smoothly behind the scenes while practicing empathy to all her employees. And Presley - let me tell you, Presley is an inspiring, artistic and overall an amazing human. We had a managerial switch over with no notice and the store fell entirely into Presley's hands this past summer. She stepped up to the plate and ran the store with absolute grace and positivity. She's always coming up with new ideas and pushing us to think outside the box, and I've learned so much from her in the time I've been here.
And speaking of exciting opportunities, I was chosen to help open the Free People Movement store this past November and to be the assistant to the Free People Movement events. It has been such a rewarding experience, and I feel so grateful for the opportunity to be a part of such an amazing team. I have loved learning more about the brand and seeing it come to life as the market and interest for Free People in Charleston is endless. It's such an honor to be able to help bring the Free People Movement vision to life and to connect with customers who share our passion for wellness and self-expression.
But what I love most about working at Free People is that it's one of the first environment where I have felt completely loved, cherished, and accepted for my free-spirited, artistic self. I've always had a passion for design, styling, and expressing myself through my clothing and looks. And here, I'm able to do all of that and more. I feel like I'm able to truly express myself and to be a part of something bigger than myself.
Overall, I feel so inspired and excited about the future. As I near graduation, I can only hope that I'll be able to continue my journey with Free People and to help bring their vision to life in new and exciting ways. It's the perfect place for a whimsical, free-spirited 22-year-old like myself to thrive and grow, and I feel so lucky to be a part of such an amazing family and company.
